I developed and led REFLEX, investigating whether systematic liver assessment using VCTE/FibroScan could identify previously unrecognised cirrhosis in people with type 2 diabetes, enabling appropriate entry into HCC surveillance, and whether this approach could be cost-effective within the NHS.
I secured funding, developed the methodology and study documentation, established NHS research sites, managed recruitment and delivery, and worked with health-economic expertise on the evaluation.
REFLEX was presented at EASL 2026 and selected for an oral presentation at BASL 2026.
